MEET THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Deb Stoke, Board President
Deb is married, the mother of two children, two step-children, and seven grandchildren. Deb has over 35 years of professional experience in managing projects, people, and budgets. Deb’s passion is ‘to make a difference’ in the lives of those around her and is both honored and humbled to be associated with and to make a difference through Baby Grace.
Rosie Farmer, Board Secretary
Rosie Farmer is the administrative assistant to the Director of Adult and Community Education for Fort Osage School District. Her involvement in Baby Grace began in 2006 at our flagship chapter, Buckner United Methodist Church, where she continues to serve today. Rosie has a Master of Fine Arts in Theatrical Design and Painting from the University of Missouri- Kansas City, where she met her husband, Patrick. They have a wonderful life of giving back to the community through Big Brothers Big Sisters- Kansas City and leadership positions in Scouting BSA.
Jerri Carver, Board Treasurer
Jerri Carver is the Manager of Investment Accounting at Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. She earned her Master of Business Administration with emphasis in finance from DeVry University, Keller Graduate School of Management. Her commitment to leadership and volunteerism began early in life when she earned her First Class Award (now Gold Star), the highest honor given to a Girl Scout. She is a founding member of Lawson Baby Grace and expanded her involvement to include Baby Grace Camp staff. When not involved with work and volunteerism you will find her with her two rescue dogs, Shelby and Tally.
Dennis Hisek, Board Member
Dennis retired in 2015 from Wilderness Retreat and Development Center after more than 28 years as Executive Director. Prior to that, Dennis spent 10 years as a Recreation Therapist for Butterfield Youth Services, and spent three years in Colombia with the Peace Corps. Dennis received his under graduate degree from South Dakota State University with a Degree in Health Physical Education and Recreation, and his Master’s degree From University of Missouri in Parks and Recreation Administration with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation. In addition to Baby Grace, Dennis spends time volunteering with a number of other organizations including Rotary, Odessa Community Service Center, Lafayette County Health Care Coalition and the MORE2-Metro Organization for Racial and Economic Equality. Dennis and his wife Jeannette are parents to three adult children and serve as directors for Baby Grace Family Camp.
Shawn Black, Board Member
Shawn Black has a passion for helping others and volunteers with multiple organizations throughout the Kansas City metro area. He helps lead the annual fundraising campaign for Harvesters through his employer, exceeding the fundraising target each year. Shawn serves as a co-leader for the youth group through his church and currently serves as the treasurer for his children’s PTA. He received his undergraduate degrees from the University of Kansas and his MBA from Baker University. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, hiking and spending time with his family.
Juli Yocum, Executive Director
Juli, along with Anne Farmer, co-founded Baby Grace in November 2006. Though not a teen mom herself, her best friend was, so Juli helped start Baby Grace as a way to reach out to other moms that were going through what her friend had experienced. As Executive Director, Juli provides oversight and support to all Baby Grace locations and Baby Grace Camp, as well as serving as director for Baby Grace Alumni Camp. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Administrative Office Systems from Missouri State University and works as a Training Manager at a bank in Kansas City. Juli has one son, John.
